On 13th Dec 2021, India woke up to some historic moments and celebrations. Our beloved Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu bagged the Miss Universe title and brought home the beauty crown. It was a mixed bag of emotions, joys, tears, and pride after all India won the iconic legacy after a period of 21 long years. Harnaaz stole the limelight straight from the start and proved to be a beauty with brains at the Miss Universe 2021 beauty pageant hosted in Eilat, Israel.
The beauty queen did walk the ramp with some serious fashion statement. Let's take a look at some of the fashion highlights and memorable moments of the event.
Crowing look
Designed by trans designer Shaisha Shinde Harnaaz donned a plunging neckline front slit beaded tassels shimmery silver custom mermaid fit evening gown grabbed some eyeballs. The intricate phulkari embroidery sequence was inspired by the princess roots from Punjab. Harnaaz completed the look with some nude lipsticks and smokey eye makeup, a half-up half-down hair, and a pair of diamond dangle earrings.
National costume wear
Harnaaz looked royal and regal in a heavy pink mirror and gotta Patti work lehenga designed by Abhinav Mishra. it was teamed up with traditional Indian jewelry like choker haar and matha Patti and a beautiful umbrella that she swayed and danced around. The whole look was a perfect blend to symbolize a traditional royal Indian queen, both her feminity and fierceness in a modern woman.
Swimsuit round
In this round, Harnaaz was seen dressed in a maroon monokini. Harnaaz has proved that she can ace any look be it traditional, western, or even a bikini look.
Introductory gown
Designer Pankaj and Nidhi molded Harnaaz in a gold shimmer side slit plunging neckline orchid tulle with molten applique detailing gown. Harnaaz let her down and some flawless makeup dazzled like a barbie doll blazed the stage on fire and made her significant presence right from the start itself.
Jury
Our very own Miss India Diva Universe 2015 Urvashi Rautela was a jury member during the pageant. Urvashi looked like million-dollar bucks seen dressed in a transparent shimmer gold gown designed by Hollywood's famous designer Michael Cinco. The cost of the dress amounts to a whopping Rs40 Lakhs. The barbie doll finished the look with a veil in a high bun hairdo and some smokey flawless makeup.
Crown
The power of unity crown designed and sponsored by a Swiss luxury brand called Mouawad in the year 2019 is beautifully crafted with 18-carat gold, 1725 white diamonds, and 3 canary diamonds to honor a woman's strength and costs Rs 38 crores.

Question: Many people think climate change is a hoax. What would you do to convince them otherwise?
Answer: Honestly my heart breaks to see how nature is going through a lot of problems, and it’s all due to our irresponsible behavior. I totally feel like this is the time to take action and talk less because each action could either kill or save nature. To prevent and protect is better than repent and repair, and this is what I’m trying to convince you guys to do.
Question: What advice would you give to young women watching on how to deal with the pressures they face today?”
Answer: I think the biggest pressure the youth today is facing is to believe in themselves. To know that you are unique and that is what makes you beautiful, stop comparing yourselves with others and let’s talk about more important things that are happening worldwide. I think this is what you need to understand. Come out and speak for yourself because you are the leader of your life, you are the voice of your own. I believed in myself, and that’s why I’m standing here today.

She is the keeper of the crown and gets to stay at the luxurious miss universe apartment in New York for the next 365 days. Miss Universe is rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 1.8 cr, monthly salary, and allowances, a team of specialists, assistants, supply of grooming and clothing for the whole year. Harnaaz Sandhu is 21 years old born in a Sikh family from Chandigarh and her mom is a gynecologist by profession.
